The club were blessed last night with the return from a European assignment of reknowned soccer writer Gale Jordan.…😳
Over 35s Result
Forth Celtic 0 Kilmore Utd 1
It was great to see the 35s back in action again after such a long layoff.
The game itself had the usual pace and adventure with both sides showing the benefits of a strict strength and conditioning regimes during the covid crisis.
The 1997 Billy Browne Cup final man of the match Barry Duggan was great at centre back but you could tell he missed the old swashbuckling full back to his left.
Dozy was the other centre back and both formed a formidable partnership. Duggy was strong and neat and tidy in possession and Dozy dictated the game in the style of a rugby out half, long diagonal balls that eventually went out of play.
Forth probably had the better of the first half with William Doyle pulling the strings in midfield. As the half wore on those strings became hamstrings and Kilmore came more into the game.
With 10 minutes left in the first half a clash of heads left Nibs on the ground. As Philip O Connor raced to the scene Nibs eventually got back to his feet. Concern grew as Nibs voluntarily made his way to the subs bench!! A few sips of water and as the mist of concussion lifted, he became aware of his surroundings and hightailed it back onto the pitch to rapturous applause (Tara and Caroline 👀)
Nil all at half time and both sides regrouped with Kilmore starting the better pinning Forth back.
Stephen Daly was as busy as ever with his deceptive pace. When I say deceptive pace I mean he's alot slower than he looks. His legs are move so fast but he isn't? Its like the ducks on the pond in Johnstown Castle?
Kilmore took the lead and never really looked in danger from there.
As the game to an end attention of the fans turned to the young lads kick around on the underage pitch which finished 30 all. Fun had by all until Killian Murphy decided to join in.
Not sure when the next report will be. The news that Basser Mccarthy is not playing is a serious blow to the material!! It literally writes itself when he plays. News that he is now coaching in our academy means the Basser Shuffle is not lost to the club.
If anyone sees Mark Doyle can you please ask him to contact the club, hes surely over 35 at this stage.
Well done Kilmore and best of luck to our lads in the next game
